Kadalai Parupu Sundal

Festivals are fun.. especially when it involves meeting a lot of people. Navarathri – a festival for 9 days (Nav means 9 and rathiri means night) is one such festivals. Every evening we visit our friends and relatives house to see the golu (arrangement of dolls), sing songs (if we have to) and collect this lovely prasadam of Sundal. Each house might have a different sundal and it will be a lovely occasion to see all the cute dolls arranges and different decorations..Sundal can be served as light tiffin or snack. It is a very healthy dish and made mainly with lentils and beans. Great thing about sundal is that it can be served at room temperature, makes a great evening tiffin and is so healthy and delicious.. I loved this as a kid and my daughter loves this too!!!!

Thengai Paal Payasam

Thengai (Coconut) Paal (Milk) Payasam is a payasam variety which is made on Aadi pandigai – the first day of the Aadi month which was yesterday this year. A very unique and flavorful payasam which can be done in a jiffy.. Do not boil the thengai paal for long as it may curdle, but cook until the raw flavor goes away.

Strawberry Oats Milkshake (no sugar added)

Strawberry Oats Milkshake is a quick and healthy drink. It can be made in less than 5 minutes, but tastes better chilled, so refrigerate for at least an hour before serving. This will serve 3 – 4. Just before serving give it a good mix. Love this for breakfast and makes a great start to the day!! I am choosing this delicious milk shake for the Potluck Party and Kid's delight - Summer Special

Eggless Chiffon Cake / Orange Chiffon Cake

My Facebook likes have crossed 500!!!! Thanks to all who have supported me… Celebrating it with a delicious cake!!! Some recipes have a very tempting name and you want to try them, but cannot due to some reason.. That is my issue with the very light Chiffon cake as it is largely dependent on Egg whites and I was so skeptical to try it when Swathi announced it for this month’s Baking Partners which was suggested by Sara. Chiffon cakes are very light and its texture primarily comes from eggs and oil. It also has a longer shelf life compared to the regular sponge cakes as it does not use any butter. I want to thank Gayathri who shared her recipe with me for this delicious cake and it was very yummy!!!. I would do this one again but next will reduce the sugar by a table spoon.
